In order to implement the purpose of promoting family harmony and serving the community by correctional institutions, the North Region Correctional Agency established the Community Joint Service Team on July 31st, [year]. Through positive interaction between the service team and the surrounding community, the aim is to change the public's misconception of correctional institutions and promote local harmony, as well as facilitate the smooth development of correctional operations.

The North Region Joint Service Team, established based on the concept of "Prison Services for Community Integration," consists of members from Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Yilan, and Keelung Prisons, as well as Taipei, Shilin, Hsinchu, and Keelung Detention Centers. The team members are selected from incarcerated individuals who meet the criteria for external work or community-based operations and possess professional skills in areas such as plumbing, electricity, carpentry, and masonry. The total number of team members is 30 to 40 in the main team (Taipei Prison) and 6 to 12 in each sub-team. The service projects include:

  1. Assisting in local community rebuilding, such as repairing transportation routes, drainage systems, and repairing school buildings, public facilities, and nonprofit organization premises.
  2. Organizing and maintaining local environmental cleanliness, including regular assistance in cleaning nearby communities, schools, parks, nonprofit organizations, roads, drainage systems, and other public facilities.
  3. Assisting in post-natural disaster recovery work, such as actively participating in the repair and restoration of the environment after natural disasters (typhoons, earthquakes, floods).

The service team has also designed a team flag representing "friendship, communication, and service," symbolizing their dedication to providing friendly and enthusiastic services to the community. Wherever this flag is displayed, it signifies the team's efforts to serve the community and its residents.

Through the professional service team, the North Region correctional institutions will begin to provide regular service work to the nearby communities. For major or project-based services that require collaboration, the Taipei Prison will take responsibility for coordinating and deploying the sub-teams to achieve the goal of serving the people and assisting the local community. With the continuous entry of social resources into correctional institutions to assist the rehabilitation of incarcerated individuals, the spirit of promoting family harmony and community feedback will be fostered through the joint community service teams in various regions.

The "North Region Correctional Agency Community Joint Service Team, Keelung Prison Sub-team" was officially established on July 31st, [year], at 9 a.m., with the flag presentation ceremony conducted by Warden Taiping. Coincidentally, during the aftermath of Typhoon "Taozhi," the sub-team immediately contacted the nearby One Plus Special District and Xinyi Street Management Committee, receiving enthusiastic responses. Under the supervision of correctional officers, the incarcerated individuals efficiently cleared debris, cleaned and disinfected drainage channels, and pruned plants. The orderly and swift actions of the sub-team revitalized the appearance of the community, receiving unanimous praise from local residents.

The initial composition of the sub-team consists of nine incarcerated individuals who meet the criteria for external work or community-based operations and have demonstrated good behavior while serving their sentences. In addition to proactively contacting the city government, district offices, and local administrative offices, the sub-team welcomes inquiries and applications from the community and organizations regarding cleaning and environmental beautification work in community parks, schools, roads, drainage systems, and other public facilities. For inquiries, please contact the dedicated line at (02) 24651146, extension 211.
